Hello there.
The recruitment process works like this:
When you get accepted, you'll be in the first part of the academy (Academy student I), that means you'll receive the entry exam which will test your basic knowledge on how does a law enforcement agency actualy work.
In case you pass the entry exam, you'll be set as academy student II, then you'll have to study for the academy exam which consists of our rules and procedures, if you pass it, you'll start the field academy.

Now for the second part of the question, just be active in game, and it's very recommended that you'll go on SAPD duty (As recruit).
